Alan Longmore's  Biography

I have been a part time artist for most of my life, and in 2009 I  took the plunge and went professional. I have studied fine art, three diamentional sculpture and ceramics at college and I still attend master classes, as I am always seeking ways to learn from others, particularly those inspirational artists that are 'Masters' in their field.

I am a realist artist, and I seek to bring as much detail and depth to my paintings as possible.  

My main passion is wildlife art, but I also love to paint portraits of people
and pets.  Pastels, oils, acrylic inks and pencil are my main mediums, but I am always keen to experient with  new mediums to present a painting in a different light, or to seek to enhance my subject.

I have my own studio and  teach art, currently  on a one to one basis. However,  I will be looking to provide workshops in the future for students, and if anyone is interested please contact me, details of which are on the contact page.

I attend many art and craft shows throughout the year, during which I usually demostrate. Details of shows (and exhibitions) that I will be attending in 2012 are on the Venues' page. 

I also activitely take part in competitions as this is another way to learn and develop from others, and there is always the possibility of winning...

I also sculpt  in ceramics and recently I have developed a passion for stained glass. My next project in this area is a dragon picture for a window , which you will shortly see being built on line.

I am a member of many art societies, some of which my work may be viewed on their web- site, such as the SAA, Portsmouth and Hampshire Art Society, and TWASI,  details of which are on the link page.
